Position Overview

Mid-level opportunity supporting geotechnical engineering, material testing, and special inspections.

Responsibilities

• Perform field investigations for geotechnical projects under specific work instructions.
• Schedule and execute field work for scopes provided by senior colleagues.
• Support geotechnical drilling, sampling, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging.
• Perform engineering analyses using hand and computer-based tools under senior direction.
• Perform construction observation and documentation of geotechnical construction activities.
• Perform in-situ density testing of engineered fill and observe/testing other geotechnical construction.
• Assist with technical reports, including report sections, figures, tables, and final deliverables.
• Support geotechnical engineering assessments, analyses, and designs.
• Work may include foundations, earth retaining structures, liquefaction, grading, dams, tunnels, roads, pipelines, mining, transportation, land development, and solid waste projects.
• Perform other engineering activities as directed.

Requirements

• Strong analytical skills, communication skills, and understanding of soil mechanics.
• Quick learner, enthusiastic, proactive, and responsive.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Willing to travel and work in various site conditions and project locations.
• Competence in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Clean driving record.
• Initiative to understand how individual tasks relate to overall project objectives.
• Experience as an Engineer In Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE).

Preferred Experience / Certifications

• Experience with aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and soils is a plus.
• Special inspection and material testing experience is highly valued.
• ICC certifications in soils, masonry, reinforced concrete, and structural steel/bolting are valued.
