Laboratory Technician.
Laboratory testing position supporting construction materials testing and quality assurance services.
Position Overview
SALEM Engineering Group is looking for an experienced Lab Technician for our Rancho Cucamonga, California office. This position performs laboratory tests to determine physical characteristics of soils, concrete, and other construction materials for engineering analysis, quality assurance reporting, and forensic assessments.
Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Test soils for moisture, density, composition, color, absorption, expansion, compaction, and plasticity.
- Perform laboratory testing of concrete, grout, mortar, shotcrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
- Test solutions used in determining in-situ soil and asphalt compaction or other characteristics.
- Test materials for presence and content of elements or substances.
- Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
- Record test results on standardized forms.
- Prepare graphs and charts.
- Clean, sterilize, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Assist with laboratory certifications including CALTRANS, AASHTO, AMRL, CCRL, DSA, and NICET.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of construction materials lab testing experience.
- Keep required certifications current.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- English speaking, reading, and writing required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
Preferred Experience / Certifications
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I.
- ACI Concrete Strength Testing.
- ACI Aggregate Testing I (Lab).
